Environment

This article applies to Bowdoin faculty, staff, and students installing NVivo on a Bowdoin-issued Mac. NVivo is available on faculty, staff, and student computers.

  • macOS Sequoia (15.x) or macOS Tahoe (26.x)

Resolution

  1. Open Self Service on your Bowdoin-provided Mac. For details, see Installing Software from Self Service and Company Portal in the Related Articles section.
  2. Search for NVivo 14 and click Install.
  3. Once installed, open the Applications folder, right-click on NVivo, and choose Open.
  4. When prompted with macOS cannot verify the developer of "NVivo". Are you sure you want to open it?, choose Open.

  5. When asked to give NVivo permission to access data, click Open Security & Privacy.

  6. Enter your computer password if prompted.
  7. Toggle the switch next to NVivo to On.

  8. Enter your computer password if prompted.
  9. Agree to the License Agreement.
  10. Quit NVivo.
  11. Open Self Service again, but this time click Install under NVivo 14 Activation.
  12. Once that installs, quit Self Service and open NVivo.
