Environment

This article applies to all Bowdoin College students, faculty, and staff. Canvas is Bowdoin's learning management system (LMS), used for course materials, assignments, grades, and communication between instructors and students. A Bowdoin username and password are required. Canvas can be accessed from any modern web browser on or off campus, or via the Canvas mobile app.

Resolution

Log in via a web browser

  1. Go to canvas.bowdoin.edu.
  2. Click Login and sign in using your Bowdoin username and password at the Okta login page.
  3. After signing in, your Canvas Dashboard will display your current courses.

Log in via the mobile app

  1. Download the Canvas Student app (for students) or Canvas Teacher app (for instructors) from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  2. Open the app and search for Bowdoin College when prompted to find your institution.
  3. Sign in with your Bowdoin username and password.

Find a course that's missing from your Dashboard

  1. In Canvas, click Courses in the left-hand navigation menu.
  2. Click All Courses to see every course you are enrolled in.
  3. Click the star icon next to any course to pin it to your Dashboard.
Course not listed at all? If a course does not appear under All Courses, it may not have been published by the instructor yet, or your enrollment may not have been processed. Contact your instructor or the Registrar's Office for assistance.
