Environment
This article applies to all Bowdoin College faculty, staff, and students with a Bowdoin Zoom account who use Zoom cloud recording. Steps are performed in the Zoom web portal using any modern web browser on any supported device.
- Who: All Bowdoin Zoom account holders (faculty, staff, students)
- What: Zoom cloud recordings deleted from the Recordings and Transcripts page
- Not in scope: Local Zoom recordings saved to your computer are not stored in Zoom's cloud and cannot be recovered through this process. If you need help with local recording recovery, contact the Service Desk.
Resolution
Important: Deleted cloud recordings are only kept in the Zoom trash for a limited time before they are permanently deleted. Recover your recording as soon as possible after deletion.
- Open a web browser and go to bowdoin.zoom.us, then sign in with your Bowdoin credentials.
- In the left navigation menu, click Recordings and Transcripts.
- Click the Trash tab near the top of the page to view any cloud recordings that have been deleted.
Note: If the Trash tab is not visible, the trash feature may be disabled on your account. Contact the Bowdoin Service Desk or your Zoom administrator to request that the Enable Trash for Recording and Transcript setting be turned on.
- To find a specific recording, type the meeting ID number into the Search by meeting number field and click Search. Alternatively, scroll through the list to locate the recording manually.
- To recover a single recording, click Recover on the right side of the recording topic you want to restore.
- To recover multiple recordings at the same time, select the checkbox next to each recording topic you want to restore, then click Recover.
- When prompted, click Recover again to confirm your selection.
Done: Your recovered recording will now appear on the main Recordings and Transcripts page and will be accessible to you and anyone you previously shared it with.
