IT support during various weather emergencies

The following information outlines the service and support provided to faculty, staff, and students during campus weather emergencies.

Inclement and Winter Weather

If Bowdoin College Administration declares a weather emergency due to inclement or winter weather, technology support options will change to the following:

  • Telephone support, chat support, remote access support, and self-service options including the IT Client Portal, will still be available during regular business hours.
  • If the emergency is declared while students are on-campus
    • Limited walk-in support may be available at the Tech Hub only. There will be no staff at our Maine St. Station offices.
    • If the Tech Hub must close, a notice will be posted on the main page of the IT Client Portal.
  • if an emergency is declared while students are not on-campus
    • There will be no walk-in support as the Tech Hub will be closed during the emergency and no staff present at our Maine St. Station offices.
  • In-person office support will not be available.
  • In-person classroom technology support will not be available.
    • If there is a teaching emergency during a weather emergency, we continue to recommend contacting the Service Desk or put in a service request online.
      • In some cases, remote assistance for a classroom issue may be possible.
      • If an issue requires in-person assistance, we will assist or investigate them once we return to campus.

Heat Advisory

  • In-person support may be discussed on a per-case basis.
  • If classes are in session, in-person classroom technology assistance will continue to be available.
  • Clients may be asked to wait until a later date, depending on the situation and staff available, but generally assistance will continue if under normal conditions.
