Environment
This article applies to all current Bowdoin College students, faculty, and staff who have signed into their Bowdoin account but still cannot access certain web pages or systems. It covers access issues with Bowdoin web services such as Microsoft 365, the login portal, or other protected resources.
Resolution
- Check Your Permissions: Some web pages or services at Bowdoin require specific roles or group memberships. Being signed in does not automatically mean you have access to all resources. For example, some materials might be limited to faculty, staff, or certain student groups only.
- Ensure Your Account Is Active: If your Bowdoin account is new or recently updated, it may take time for all permissions to update. Make sure your account is active and not expired.
- Ensure the Content Is Active: Some content might be time-sensitive and either become available or unavailable t at specific times even though a link has been provided.
- Verify the URL: Double-check that you are using the correct web address. Some resources have similar names or URLs, and you may be trying to access a page you are not authorized for.
- Browser Issues: Try clearing your browser’s cache or using a different browser. Sometimes browser settings or extensions can block access to certain web pages.
