Environment

This article applies to Bowdoin College students, faculty, and staff using college-managed macOS computers with the Jamf Self Service app installed. It is relevant when an application in Self Service cannot be installed, shows "Reinstall", or appears stuck.

Resolution

  1. Open the Self Service app from your Applications folder.
  2. If an app says "Reinstall," it means Self Service recognizes the app is already installed but can reinstall if needed. If you are having trouble, click "Reinstall."
  3. If "Reinstall" does not resolve the issue, quit Self Service completely:
    • Click the Self Service menu at the top left and choose "Quit Self Service."
  4. Restart your Mac. This can help resolve many temporary glitches with Self Service or the installation process.
  5. Log back in and reopen the Self Service app. Try installing or reinstalling the application again.
  6. If these steps do not work, contact the Bowdoin IT Service Desk for assistance.
