Environment

This article applies to current Bowdoin College faculty, staff, and students who have been granted access to LibreChat.

LibreChat is a currated AI chat program operated and managed by Information Technology. It is available on Bowdoin-managed devices or personal devices through a web browser. Clients must log in with their Bowdoin username and password, and use multi-factor authentication for access.

Students: Make sure to check your course syllabus or ask your instructor about what is or is not allowed for AI use in your classes.

Logging In to LibreChat

LibreChat can be accessed in one of 2 ways.

  1. Directly from https://librechat.bowdoin.edu.
    1. Click the Login with Bowdoin SSO button.


       
    2. If not already signed in, you will be prompted to authenticate using Bowdoin multi-factor authentication.

First Time Login

The first time you log in to LibreChat you will be prompted to  accept the Terms of Service:

 

Once you are logged in you will see the LibreChat web interface. It is divided up into 3 main sections:

  1. Left hand chat history and user settings column
  2. Central chat interface/model selection section
  3. Right hand customization column
