MATLAB

"MATLABĀ® is the high-level language and interactive environment used by millions of engineers and scientists worldwide. It lets you explore and visualize ideas and collaborate across disciplines including signal and image processing, communications, control systems, and computational finance." - Mathworks.com

MATLAB is used across the campus and across the disciplines. It is available to be installed on student, faculty, and staff personal and Bowdoin-issued devices.

Licensing

Current MATLAB licensing allows access to the main application, more than 90 toolboxes provided by Mathworks, access to MATLAB Online, MATLAB Mobile for iOS/Android OS, MATLAB's Online documentation and more. New installations of MATLAB are no longer required to talk with a Bowdoin license manager, however some on-campus computers will continue to use a license manager and must be run from the Bowdoin network.

For instructions on how to create a Mathworks account and to download and install MATLAB, see the article listed under the "Related Articles" section.

Toolboxes

There are a variety of toolboxes which Bowdoin traditionally licensed for use on all lab computers. The toolboxes are listed below:

  • Curve Fitting Toolbox
  • Database Toolbox
  • Financial Instruments Toolbox
  • Financial Toolbox
  • Global Optimization Toolbox
  • Mapping Toolbox
  • Neural Network Toolbox
  • Optimization Toolbox
  • Parallel Computing Toolbox
  • Signal Processing Toolbox
  • Spreadsheet Link EX
  • Statistics and Machine Learning Toolbox
  • Symbolic Math Toolbox

With the new licensing, Bowdoin community members have access to all 90+ toolboxes available from Mathworks.
