What This Service Is

By default, Bowdoin's border firewall denies inbound traffic — any traffic not explicitly allowed by a rule cannot reach campus services from off campus. "Campus services" includes both systems physically on campus and hosted servers and services that are logically connected to Bowdoin's network. If a service legitimately needs to be reachable through the firewall, you can request an exception using this service.

This service is available to faculty and staff only.

How to Get Started / Get Help

Press the button below to submit a firewall exception request. Be ready to describe the service, the source and destination, the ports involved, and the business reason for the exception.

Service Promise

Requests are reviewed by IT Security and IT Infrastructure. If approved, the change goes through the IT Change Review process, and the work is completed only after that approval. The full process can take up to two weeks before an approved request is fulfilled.
