What This Service Is
This service is used to request the creation of a Bowdoin emeriti account for a retiring faculty or staff member. Faculty emeriti accounts are requested following a Board of Trustees vote or at the direction of the President's Office or Human Resources. Staff emeriti accounts may be requested by Human Resources at any point during the year.
Who It's For
This service is intended for the President's Office and Human Resources to request a faculty or staff emeriti account. It is not a general-audience request.
How to Get Started
Choose the option that matches what you need:
- Request Emeriti Account — to have an emeriti account created. A Service Desk staff member will reach out to the nominee to explain the process, request an emeriti email address, and provide guidance on moving email and files.
- Information about Bowdoin Emeriti Accounts — opens a page of knowledge base articles about emeriti accounts.
Faculty accounts activate after confirmation. A new faculty emeriti account will not be signed into until the emeriti status is confirmed by the Board of Trustees vote in May.
Not What You're Looking For?
- If you're a retiring employee with questions about your account, contact Human Resources — emeriti accounts are requested on your behalf, not directly.
- If you need to extend a current employee's account before departure, use Request Extension under Faculty, Staff, and Student Accounts.
Service Promise
Requests are coordinated between the Service Desk, the nominee, and Human Resources. Faculty account activation follows the Board of Trustees confirmation timeline. For current Service Desk hours and contact options, see Technology Support Options and Hours in the Related Articles section.
