Overview
Use this request to get a Zoom Pro license so you can host meetings longer than 40 minutes, with up to 300 participants and cloud recording.
When to Use This
- Your Zoom meetings end at 40 minutes and you need to host longer sessions.
- You regularly host meetings, office hours, or sessions that run past 40 minutes.
- You need to host a meeting for up to 300 participants.
- You are a student who needs to host a longer Zoom meeting for a specific, time-limited purpose.
When NOT to Use This
- You just need a longer meeting and don't specifically need Zoom — Microsoft Teams has no meeting-length limit for anyone. See Choosing Between Zoom and Microsoft Teams at Bowdoin in the Related Articles section.
- You are a faculty member — you already have a Zoom Pro license and don't need to request one.
- You need to host an interactive meeting of more than 300 people — use Request a Zoom Large Meeting license.
- You are running a large, presentation-style event with a view-only audience — use Request a Zoom Webinar license.
Before You Submit
- A short explanation of why you need the license. Students must provide a detailed reason.
- If your need is tied to research or coursework with a faculty member, the faculty member's name and the date you need access until.
What Happens Next
Staff: If a license is available, your Pro license is applied automatically, usually within 2 business days. If no license is currently available, the Service Desk will follow up.
Students: Your request and reason are reviewed. If approved, you are granted Pro access for two weeks, after which it is removed automatically. If your request is tied to research or coursework with a faculty member, longer access can be arranged through the end date you provide. You'll be notified when access is applied and again when it is removed.
