Request Training on Recording or Lecture Capture

Overview

Request training on how to record or capture a lecture in a specific classroom or lab. A CTS staff member will show you the recording options available in the room — Panopto, Zoom, or the room's own capture setup — how to start and stop a recording, and where to find it afterward.

When to Use This

  • You want to record your lectures or class sessions and don't know how in a particular room.
  • You want to learn how the room's capture equipment works.
  • You're deciding between recording tools (Panopto vs. Zoom) and want guidance.
  • You want to know how students will access recordings after class.

When NOT to Use This

  • You have one specific session you need recorded and want hands-on help that day — use Request a consult for a hybrid class or event.
  • You want a general room walkthrough — use Request classroom or lab orientation.
  • You want to learn Zoom or Teams meetings more broadly — use Request training on Zoom or Teams in a classroom.
  • A recording didn't work or the equipment is broken — use Report Room Technology Issue.

Before You Submit

  • The building and room where you want to record.
  • What you want to capture (yourself presenting, slides, room audio, remote participants).
  • A few dates and times that work for you.

What Happens Next

A CTS staff member will follow up to schedule training in the room so you can practice recording with the actual setup, and make sure you know where your recordings land.
