Report a Sign-In Problem

Summary

Use this request to report that you can't sign in to Bowdoin systems, are locked out of your account, or are running into errors when you try to authenticate.

When to Use This

Use this offering when:

  • You enter your username and password but can't get past the sign-in screen
  • Okta Verify isn't sending a push notification, or approving it doesn't let you in
  • You're getting an error message during sign-in that you can't clear
  • Your account appears to be locked or suspended
  • Sign-in worked yesterday and suddenly doesn't today, and you still have your device

When NOT to Use This

Don't use this offering if:

  • You're locked out and have no working device to authenticate with and need access urgently — use Request Emergency Sign-In Access instead
  • You got a new or replacement phone and just need to set up Okta Verify again — use Set Up MFA on a New or Replacement Device
  • You only need to reset a forgotten password — use Reset My Password, which takes you to self-service reset
  • An app is missing or won't open from your dashboard but you can otherwise sign in — use Report an Okta App or Dashboard Problem

Before You Submit

To help us resolve this quickly, have ready:

  • What you were trying to sign in to (email, Workday, Canvas, a specific app)
  • The exact error message, if there is one (a screenshot or photo helps)
  • Whether you still have access to your usual authentication device
  • When the problem started

What Happens Next

A Service Desk technician will review your request and respond during business hours; sign-in problems that keep you out of your account are treated as high priority. You may be contacted to verify your identity or for more detail about the error. If you are completely locked out and can't wait, call the Service Desk at (207) 725-3030.
