Add Another Authentication Method

Summary

Use this request to get help adding a backup or additional way to sign in, so that a lost or forgotten device won't lock you out.

When to Use This

Use this offering when you want to add any of the following as an additional sign-in method:

  • A second phone or tablet running Okta Verify
  • A laptop or desktop (Okta Verify, Touch ID, or Windows Hello)
  • A YubiKey or other physical security key
  • FastPass for faster, passwordless sign-in
  • Another authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator
Most methods can be added yourself. Step-by-step instructions for each method are in the Related Articles section — see Set Up Okta Verify on an Additional Device, Add a YubiKey Security Token to Your Bowdoin Account, and Enrolling Google Authenticator with Okta. Use this form if you'd like help or run into trouble.

When NOT to Use This

Don't use this offering if:

  • You're replacing a lost or upgraded device rather than adding one — use Set Up MFA on a New or Replacement Device
  • You're locked out now and need urgent access — use Request Emergency Sign-In Access
  • You need a physical hardware token because you don't use a smartphone — use Request or Replace a Hardware Security Token in the Related Services section

Have ready:

  • Which method you want to add
  • The device or security key you want to add, nearby
  • Access to at least one method you can already sign in with
