When to Use This
Use this offering when:
- You want to compare a few options before you decide.
- You need a price for a budget request or a grant proposal, including a Computer Allocation Process request or a Technology Budget Request.
- You are not sure exactly what to buy and want IT's recommended standard model.
- You want to confirm a cost before you commit department or grant funds.
When NOT to Use This
Don't use this offering if:
- You already know what you need or have a quote in hand. Use Request a Hardware Purchase.
- You are a faculty or staff member due for your regular computer replacement. That runs through the annual Computer Allocation Process. See Computer Purchase and Support in the Related Articles section.
- You are pricing software or a subscription. Use Software Purchasing in the Related Services section.
Before You Submit
Having these ready speeds things up:
- The type of hardware you are looking for (a laptop, a monitor, a peripheral, and so on).
- Roughly how you will use it, and how many you need.
- Any budget range you are working within, and when you need it.
What Happens Next
We acknowledge your request within 1 business day and put together a quote with recommended options, usually including a standard supported model. Nothing is purchased from a quote request. When you have the funds and are ready to buy, come back through Request a Hardware Purchase. If you need the quote to request funds, it will support a Computer Allocation Process request or a Technology Budget Request.
