Use This Request To
Use this request to buy technology hardware when you know what you need or already have a quote.
When to Use This
Use this offering when:
- You know the equipment you want and are ready to buy.
- You already have a quote, from us or from a vendor, and want the order placed.
- You need extra or off-cycle equipment beyond your regular computer replacement.
- You are making a grant-funded or department-funded equipment purchase.
When NOT to Use This
Don't use this offering if:
- You want pricing or options first. Use Request a Hardware Quote.
- You do not have funds for the item, it is for one person, and it costs under $2,000. That goes through the annual Computer Allocation Process. See Computing Allocation Process (CAP) in the Related Services section.
- You do not have funds for the item and it costs $2,000 or more, or it is for more than one person. Request it through the Technology Budget Request in the Related Services section when next year's budgets are being built, around October to December.
- A device you already have is broken. Use the device support request rather than buying a replacement.
- You need toner, paper, cables, or other supplies. Order those through your department's usual vendor in Workday.
Before You Submit
Having these ready speeds things up:
- The product or model and any specifications you need, or the quote you already have.
- How many you need, and where they should be delivered.
- The cost if you know it, and your funding source or cost center.
- The date you need it by.
What Happens Next
We acknowledge your request within 2-3 business days. We confirm the specifications, pricing, and whether the item is a standard supported model or a non-standard one, then place the order and coordinate delivery and setup with you. For non-standard or specialized equipment, we confirm warranty coverage and let you know that your department takes on primary support for it, in line with College policy. We tell you if a purchase over $500 needs budget planning or a Computer Allocation Process request.
