Contractor Account Request

Summary

Use this request to have a Bowdoin account created for an independent contractor working with the college.

When to Use This

Use this offering when:

  • An independent contractor needs their own Bowdoin account to do their work.
Understand the Controller's Office definition first. You need to understand how an independent contract is defined by the Controller's Office. IT creates the account as long as this is understood.

When NOT to Use This

Don't use this offering if:

  • The person is a research collaborator or guest, not a contractor — use Collaborator or Guest Account Request
  • The person is a Bowdoin employee — use Faculty, Staff, and Student Accounts or Intent to Hire

Before You Submit

Have ready:

  • Full name of the contractor
  • A description of the account's purpose and the work order number
  • Any special permissions or access required
One account per contractor. Each account is issued to a single contractor and must not be shared. If the contract ends early, notify IT immediately so the account can be deactivated.

What Happens Next

IT creates the account with the approved permissions and confirms with you. Access varies based on what was requested and approved.
