What This Service Is
Some people who work with Bowdoin aren't permanent members of the community — contractors, research collaborators, and guests. They may still need a Bowdoin account to access certain systems. Unlike faculty, staff, and student accounts, these accounts aren't created automatically through Human Resources; each one must be requested individually through this service.
Who It's For
Only current faculty and staff may request one of these accounts, on behalf of the contractor, collaborator, or guest who needs it. Approval processes are in place to verify the request and the sponsored person's information.
How to Get Started
Choose the option that matches what you need:
- Contractor Account Request — for a vendor or contractor working with Bowdoin.
- Collaborator or Guest Account Request — for a research collaborator, visiting scholar, or other guest.
- Information about Non-Standard Bowdoin Accounts — opens a page of knowledge base articles explaining the account types and what each can access.
Not What You're Looking For?
- If you need changes to your own faculty, staff, or student account, use Faculty, Staff, and Student Accounts.
- If you're a hiring manager preparing for a new employee, use Intent to Hire — not a guest or contractor account.
- If the person needs access to a specific application or network folder once they have an account, use Application Access or Network File and Folder Permissions in the Getting Access to Apps & Files area.
