Unable to set up Google Home, Google Home Mini, Google Nest Audio

Problem

Unable to setup and configure a Google Home, Google Home Mini, Google Nest Audio or other Google smart devices on Bowdoin's wireless network.

Solution

The Google Home, Google Home Mini, Google Nest Audio or other Google smart devices are unable to be used on campus. The Google devices are not able to join a WPA2-Enterprise network according to Google's setup instructions.

The Bowdoin wireless network is a WPA2-Enterprise network, therefore the Google devices are unable to connect. They are also unable to connect to the BOWDOIN-PSK network because the mobile device in use and the Google device must be on the same network. "The compatible mobile device or tablet must support a 5GHz connection to set up Google Home on a 5GHz connection." The BOWDOIN-PSK network runs at 2.4 GHz while the BOWDOIN network will run at 5 GHz.
