We firmly believe that all computer users should be work to protect themselves from viruses and spyware by installing an anti-virus application. While IT works to protect Bowdoin-issued computers, we can only make recommendations for all personal and home computers.
There are a number of good, free anti-virus applications available for MacOS. For personal computers, if you choose not to purchase an anti-virus application, we recommend Avast Security for Mac as a replacement for Microsoft's retired System Center Endpoint Protection.
Avast Security features an anti-malware scanner, web and email shields, and a wireless security scanner at no cost.
