Create a new Microsoft 365 distribution group

Microsoft 365 distribution groups are lists made up of a only Bowdoin email addresses. They can be easily managed from Outlook.com and they contain similar features as existing Mailman lists. 

Availability

Mailman lists are available for request by Bowdoin faculty, staff and students (with approval from Student Activities or adviser).

Additional Information

• Exchange Distribution Groups won't be populated by IT staff.
• They require web access and are managed through a web interface at https://outlook.office.com. 
• Exchange Distribution Groups must contain only @bowdoin.edu addresses, To request a Mailman list that can manage both @bowdoin.edu and other addresses, click this link.
• Mailing to the list can be done from any email client
• Most lists are moderated and we highly recommend requiring moderation, especially with a large number of email addresses to avoid massive amounts of spam.
• We will try our best to accommodate the email address that you request however this isn't always possible. We will work with you on creating an address that is appropriate and meaningful if needed.

Service Promise

We will work to have the list created within 3 business days following the request. Microsoft 365 distribution groups will be available from on-campus and off campus and accessible for moderation and management at outlook.office.com.
