Environment
This article applies to Bowdoin College students and faculty with a college-issued MacBook Pro or iPad covered under the Digital Excellence Commitment (DExC). All DExC devices include AppleCare+ coverage for four years from their purchase date.
Resolution
Students — notify IT first. If you need to have your iPad repaired or replaced, you must submit a Service Desk ticket before contacting Apple. The iPad is college-owned property and IT needs to be notified before any repair is processed. See Broken iPad, Apple Keyboard, or Apple Pencil — Repair Process in the Related Articles section for the full steps.
Contact Apple Support
Support for Bowdoin-issued MacBook Pros, iPads, and iPad accessories is handled directly by Apple. You have three options:
- Phone (recommended for Bowdoin devices): Call the AppleCare for Education line at 1-800-800-2775 and press Option 3. Do not use the general AppleCare number — the education line is specifically for Bowdoin's coverage.
- Online chat or mail-in: Visit support.apple.com/contact to start a chat or arrange a mail-in repair.
- Apple Store or Authorized Service Provider: You may bring your device in person to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider.
Note: If you are getting support for an Apple Pencil or keyboard, have your iPad's serial number available. Accessories are covered under the same AppleCare agreement as the iPad and Apple will need the iPad serial number to look up the coverage.
