Environment

This article applies to Bowdoin students who need to print, scan, or copy on campus:

  • Who: All enrolled Bowdoin students.
  • What: Campus PaperCut printers available for student use, accessible via the Find-Me-Print queue or by individual printer name when releasing from the web portal.
  • Not covered: Department printers assigned to faculty or staff offices. Guest and visitor printing is a separate process — see the Guest Printing Request service in the Service Catalog.

Resolution

How Find-Me-Print works: When you print, always send your job to the Find-Me-Print queue. Your document is held in PaperCut until you release it at any campus MFD using your OneCard. If you release from the PaperCut web portal, you will need to select a specific printer from the list below.

Student printers on campus

The table below lists all printers available to students. A Multi-function printer (MFD) can print, copy, and scan. A Color printer supports color output. A Black and white printer prints in grayscale only.

Printer names matter at web release: The printer names in the PaperCut Printer Name column above are the exact names shown in the PaperCut web portal when you choose where to send your job. Match the name to the location you plan to visit.

Paper sizes

All public student printers are stocked with standard US Letter paper (8½″ × 11″) only. Bowdoin does not provide paper in other sizes at publicly accessible printers.

If you need to print on a different paper size:

  • Bypass tray (manual feed): Most campus MFDs have a bypass tray, sometimes labeled Tray 1 or MP Tray. You may load your own paper into this tray for a single print job. You will need to be at the printer in person to load the paper before releasing your job, and you must set the correct paper size in your print dialog before sending the job.
  • Department printers: Some academic or administrative departments have printers stocked with additional paper sizes. Access to those printers is managed by each department and is not available to the general student population.
  • Large-format and specialty printing: For poster-size output or other specialty printing needs, contact the Copy and Print Center. See Poster Printing at the Copy and Print Center in the Related Articles section.
Bypass tray tips: Load only the number of sheets you need for your job. Remove any remaining paper when you are done so the next person does not accidentally print onto your paper. Standard copy paper is available at the campus bookstore and other campus locations if you need to purchase a different size.
