Environment

This article applies to Bowdoin students, faculty, and staff using Microsoft Teams. Teams supports adding apps such as OneNote and Planner to a team's channels. Some apps are restricted and require approval from a Teams administrator before they can be added.

Resolution

Add an approved app

  1. Open Microsoft Teams and sign in with your Bowdoin credentials.
  2. Go to the Team and Channel where you want to add the app.
  3. Select the + (plus icon) at the top of the channel to add a new tab.
  4. Browse or search for the app you want to add (for example, OneNote or Planner).
  5. Select the app, configure any required settings, and select Add or Save.

Request approval for a restricted app

  1. In Teams, select Apps in the left-hand navigation panel.
  2. Search for the app you would like to use.
  3. If you see Request approval instead of Add, select it.
  4. Fill out any required fields explaining why you need the app.
  5. Submit the request. The request is reviewed by a Teams administrator.
  6. You receive a notification once the request is approved or denied.
  7. If you need a faster decision, contact the Service Desk for assistance.
