Environment

This article applies to Bowdoin students, faculty, and staff using Outlook on the web (also called Outlook Online) with a Bowdoin account.

  • Outlook on the web at outlook.office.com
  • Signatures created here apply to messages sent from Outlook on the web. The Outlook desktop and mobile apps store their own separate signatures.

Resolution

  1. Go to outlook.office.com and sign in with your Bowdoin account.
  2. Select the Settings gear icon in the upper-right corner of the page.
  3. In the Settings window, select Mail, then select Compose and reply.
  4. Under Email signature, type a name for the signature, then enter the signature text in the editing box. Use the formatting tools to set the font, size, style, and color, and to add links or an image such as a logo.
  5. To add the signature automatically, use the two dropdown menus below the editing box to choose the signature for New messages and for Replies/forwards. Leave a dropdown set to (no signature) if you do not want the signature added automatically.
  6. Select Save.
  7. Compose a new message to confirm the signature appears as expected.
Note: A signature created in Outlook on the web does not carry over to the Outlook desktop or mobile apps. Set a signature separately in each app where you want one.
