Unable to Log In and Stream Xfinity on Campus

Issues

  • I am unable to watch Xfinity on Campus.
  • I'm a student but I can't log in to watch TV.
  • I'm a faculty or staff member and I can't watch Xfinity.
  • Some students can log in and watch Xfinity but others can't — why?
  • My login stopped working after I changed my password.

Environment

This article applies to current Bowdoin students living in on-campus housing. Xfinity on Campus is available only to students on record with Residential Life as living in campus housing; students living off campus and faculty and staff do not have access.

Resolution

Confirm you're eligible

Xfinity streaming is only available to students currently living in campus housing and listed as such by Residential Life. Students living off campus, or staying with friends but not listed as living on campus, do not have access, and neither do staff and faculty.

Troubleshooting steps

  1. Check your network. Connect to the BOWDOIN or eduroam wireless networks — BOWDOIN-GUEST will not allow access. If you're plugged in via Ethernet, turn wireless off or connect to BOWDOIN, otherwise Xfinity may not recognize you as on the Bowdoin network.
  2. VPN doesn't matter. Being on the VPN has no effect — access is tied to your assigned residence, not the network.
  3. Use your Bowdoin credentials. Sign in with your Bowdoin username and password. If you recently changed your password, sign in again on any mobile device, Apple TV, or Roku.
  4. Verify in a browser. Try signing in through a web browser (see Watch Xfinity on Campus from a web browser in the Related Articles section). If that works, sign out of the Xfinity app and sign back in.
Still stuck? For an overview of the service and eligibility, see Watch Xfinity on Campus — Bowdoin Cable Television in the Related Articles section.
