Teams Troubleshooting for MacOS

Camera and Microphone Issues

Microsoft Teams must be given permission to use the Mac's camera and mic. If you find that you cannot be seen or heard in a Meeting check the following settings to make sure that your computer is allowing Teams to use the camera and microphone.

  1. Click on the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the desktop and select System Preferences.
  2. Click on the Security & Privacy icon.

  3. Click on the Privacy tab.

  4. In the list on the left scroll down until you see "Camera" and click on it. With "Camera" highlighted, on the right you will see the apps that could use the camera (everything on the list) and the apps allowed to use the camera (those apps with a check mark beside them).

Microsoft Teams and Zoom.us can use the camera, Microsoft Remote Desktop cannot.

  5. If Teams does not have a check next to it you will need to click on the lock, in the lower left corner to enable changes, then check the box next to Microsoft Teams. If you are required to enter Administrator credentials to open the lock, please use the Privileges app to temporarily give you account administrator permissions. For more information regarding the Privileges app please see the KB article here: https://bowdoin.teamdynamix.com/TDClient/1814/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=102273
  6. To check the settings for the Microphone click on it and verify that Teams has permission to access the microphone.
