Zoom videos can be edited using the tools available on the web if the video needs to be trimmed either at the beginning or end. If more extensive editing is required other software may be required.
Trimming the beginning and/or end of a Zoom recording saved to the cloud.
- Log into https://bowdoin.zoom.us
- Click on Recordings from the menu on the left.
- Click on the link for the recording that needs editing.
- Click the play button on the video. A new tab will open with the video.
- Click on the scissor icon (Set Playback Range).
- A pop-up message will display letting you know that viewers will only be able to see the portion of the video within the set playback range. Click on Got it.
- There are sliding controls located on either side of the bar that tracks the video's progress. Dragging the cursors will set what portion of the video that is played when the link to the video is shared. The area in blue will play back, any area in white will not be part of the video playback but the complete video will be preserved.
- When you are satisfied with the portion of the video to be played, click Save.
Further editing options: If you want to edit individual parts of a video beyond trimming the beginning or ending of the recording, or the recording is saved on your computer as opposed to being saved to cloud, you will need to use software like Microsoft Photos (Windows) and iMovie (MacOS).
