Custom Bowdoin Zoom Backgrounds

Summary

The Office of Communications and Public Affairs created a set of Bowdoin Zoom backgrounds to use during classes and meetings. Backgrounds are useful for blocking distractions happening behind you like your cat wanting attention!

Changing Your Zoom Background

On a computer

  1. Download a background image from Bowdoin's custom Zoom background portal to a computer.
  2. Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.
  3. Click the settings Gear icon representing settings or preferences icon in the top-right.
  4. Select Backgrounds and Filters.

  5. Click on an image to select the desired virtual background or add your own image by clicking + and choosing if you want to upload an image or a video. 

On an iOS device (iPhone, iPad)

  1. Download a background image from Bowdoin's custom Zoom background portal to your iOS device.
  2. While in a Zoom meeting, tap More in the controls.
  3. Tap Virtual Background.
  4. Tap the background you would like to apply or tap + to upload a new image. The background will be automatically applied.
  5. Tap Close after selecting the background to return to the meeting.
