Description
When trying to access Polaris, Polaris registration pages or other Polaris pages the page does not load.
Environment
Accessing Polaris pages from on campus on either a Mac or a Windows computer.
Resolution
Check your web browser
Polaris runs best on either Microsoft Edge or Chrome. If using Safari on macOS you may experience issues with page loading due to security features built in to that browser preventing access.
Where are you?
Some Polaris pages require you to be on campus OR connected to campus using Bowdoin's VPN. If you're not on campus, and you've tried accessing Polaris from Edge or Chrome, try connecting to campus via VPN.
If you receive a 404 Error page, this indicates that your browser can't locate polaris.bowdoin.edu. This indicates one of three things:
- You're not on campus and you didn't start the VPN before you tried to connect. One of these things are a requirement to access some Polaris pages.
- NOTE: If you're on campus, make sure you are NOT connected to BOWDOIN-GUEST. You must use either eduroam or BOWDOIN wireless.
- You're not connected to a network, either wirelessly or wired. If you are, be sure you're not connected to BOWDOIN-GUEST (see the above note).
- There is an issue with your network preventing your browser from locating the page.
