Requesting a quote or purchase of software

Question

  • How do I request new software to be purchased?
  • How can I get a quote for new software?
  • Where can I enter a request for new software to be purchased?
  • How do I request a new piece of software?

Environment

Faculty and staff who would like software that is not currently available through Information Technology (IT).

Resolution

Request a quote or a purchase

IT maintains dozens of software and app titles that are available for office productivity and research. Many of these can be installed without assistance through the Self Service app in macOS and Company Portal app for Windows. For software that isn't available as self-service, that Bowdoin owns, you can request IT assistance.

For software and apps that we don't own, you can request a quote and/or a purchase of that app online at https://bowdoin.teamdynamix.com/TDClient/1814/Portal/Requests/ServiceDet?ID=17203 or by clicking the link under the Related Service Offerings on this page.

Budget

If the cost is greater than $500, you may be asked to submit the purchase as a CAP request or as part of the annual technology budget request so that the costs can be accounted for in the annual budget or you may be asked to provide a cost center to pay for the software yourself. Be aware that if the software is subscription-based, you may be asked to continue to pay for it continually until the software is no longer needed.
