There are many times that you might want to create a page or news story draft, but not publish it right away — maybe you need approval from other offices, or you're experimenting with different page layouts.
Most assets are set to be published and indexed by default, but you can turn this off as needed. Given that every site is auto-published every 24 hours, you will want to make sure to complete this step for any page that you do not intend to publish within that timeframe.
- Navigate to the page or news story you would like to keep unpublished.
- Click "Edit," as you would normally do to make changes or updates to the asset.
- Click on the "Configure" tab beneath the cog icon.
- Uncheck the "Include when indexing" and "Include when publishing" checkboxes.
- Click Preview Draft > Submit > Submit.
Note: You will need to recheck these checkboxes when you are ready to publish. This asset is not publishable until you do — so even if you try to publish your entire site's folder, this asset will be ignored and skipped until you recheck the checkboxes.
