What This Service Is
Most people at Bowdoin verify their identity for multi-factor authentication (MFA) using the Okta Verify app on a smartphone. If you don't use a smartphone, or can't use an app, you can use a physical hardware token instead. A hardware token is either a small USB key or a keyfob with a push-button that displays a short code on a screen.
Use this service to request a hardware token for the first time, or to replace one that has been lost, stolen, damaged, or whose battery has died.
Who It's For
Any faculty, staff, or student who needs a hardware token or has already been issued one. Hardware tokens are intended for people who can't use a smartphone-based authentication method.
How to Get Started
Click the request button to submit a token request. Tell us whether this is your first token or a replacement, and if it's a replacement, what happened to the old one.
Good to know: When we issue a replacement token, any previously assigned token is removed from your account, so an old lost or stolen token can no longer be used.
Not What You're Looking For?
- If you want to add a YubiKey as an extra sign-in method on an account you can already access, see Add a YubiKey Security Token to Your Bowdoin Account in the Related Articles section, or use Sign-In & Account Access.
- If you're locked out right now with no working device, use Sign-In & Account Access and choose emergency access.
Service Promise
Token requests are reviewed during business hours. Because a hardware token is a physical device that must be prepared and handed off, allow time for pickup or delivery arrangements. For current Service Desk hours and contact options, see Technology Support Options and Hours in the Related Articles section.
