Use this request to
Report a wired network jack or port in your residence hall room or office that isn't working, so a technician can repair it.
When to Use This
Use this offering when:
- A wired jack that used to work has stopped working
- You plug in an Ethernet cable and get no connection
- A port is physically damaged (loose, broken, or pushed in)
- One of several jacks in your space is dead while others work
When NOT to Use This
Don't use this offering if:
- The jack has never been active and you need it turned on or a new drop added — use Activate or Install a Network Jack
- Your trouble is with Wi-Fi, not a wired jack — use Report a Wi-Fi Problem
- A whole room, floor, or building is down — use Report a Network Outage
Before You Submit
Have ready:
- The building and room number
- The jack or wall-plate label, if there is one (often printed on the plate)
- Whether this is your only way to get online, so we can prioritize
- A photo of the jack, if it looks damaged
What Happens Next
We aim to repair a reported port within 3 business days; during busier times it may take longer. If the wired port is your only connection, note that so we can prioritize. You may be contacted to arrange access to the space.
