Report a Device Registration Problem

Use this request to

Report a problem registering or connecting a game console, smart TV, streaming device, or similar device on Bowdoin's BOWDOIN-PSK wireless network when you've already tried the self-service registration steps and it still won't connect.

Register your device first. Most consoles and devices can be registered in a few minutes without a ticket using the self-service registration page (the Register a Connected Device button on the Campus Wi-Fi service page). Step-by-step guides are in the Related Articles section. Submit this report only if registration fails.

When to Use This

Use this offering when:

  • You completed the self-service registration and your console or device still won't connect
  • You're getting a "device already registered" or duplicate-registration error
  • The device-specific password isn't working
  • You can't find or enter your device's Wi-Fi MAC address during registration

When NOT to Use This

Don't use this offering if:

  • You haven't tried self-service registration yet — use the Register a Connected Device button on the Campus Wi-Fi service page first
  • You're trying to set up a smart speaker, smart light, or smart switch — these generally can't be used on campus networks; see the explanations in the Related Articles section
  • The problem is with a laptop, phone, or tablet — use Report a Wi-Fi Problem
  • You're a campus guest on the guest network — see Guest Wireless in the Related Services section

Before You Submit

  • The device type (e.g., PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, smart TV, streaming stick)
  • The device's Wi-Fi MAC address (the registration guides explain where to find it)
  • Your residence hall and room number

What Happens Next

A technician reviews your report, typically within 2 business days, and will help complete or correct the device registration. You may be contacted for the device's MAC address or asked to confirm a step on the device itself.
