When to Use This
- You need help choosing, installing, or using research software or a statistical package (such as SPSS, R, or a specialized application).
- You're working with data and want help with tools for analysis, management, or visualization.
- Your work may need high-performance or specialized computing and you want to talk through options.
- You're planning a grant or project and want to scope the technology and computing needs.
- You want advice on what research hardware or software to acquire, and we can consult before you purchase.
When NOT to Use This
- The question is about teaching a course, not research. Use Request a Teaching Technology Consultation instead.

Before You Submit
Have ready a short description of the research and what you're trying to do, any tools or data formats involved, and any deadlines such as grant dates, a conference, or the start of the term.
What Happens Next
Your request is routed to your department's Academic Technology Consultant, who will reply within two business days. Research-technology questions sometimes involve deeper investigation or outside partners, such as a research-computing consortium or a vendor; if yours does, we'll tell you up front and set realistic expectations. We'll use the contact method you chose on the form.
