Request Computer Disconnect or Reconnect

Use this request to

Have the Service Desk disconnect a computer and its peripherals before a move, or reconnect and test them afterward.

When to Use This

  • Your computer needs to be unplugged and un-cabled before Facilities moves it
  • Your computer has been moved and needs to be set back up and confirmed working on the network
  • A desk replacement requires your workstation to come down and go back up
  • You've relocated within the same office and need your setup reconnected

When NOT to Use This

  • You're coordinating a whole office or multi-person move — use Request an Office or Workspace Move
  • The equipment to move is a printer or MFD — use Request a Printer or MFD Relocation
  • Your computer works but has a software or performance problem — submit a general device support request under Devices, Printing & Scanning
  • You're moving a Teams desk phone — no request needed; plug it into any campus network port. See Setting Up Your Teams Phone at a New Location in the Related Articles section

Before You Submit

Have ready:

  • Device name or asset tag
  • Current and destination location (building and room)
  • Whether you need disconnect, reconnect, or both, and the date
  • Monitor arms: whether your monitor is (or will be) on a monitor arm, and if so whether it's a through-desk (grommet) or clamp-style mount — so we arrive with the right tools
Monitor arms — two things to know:
  • If mounting an arm requires drilling a hole in your desk, that work is generally Facilities Management's responsibility — let us know so we can coordinate.
  • Please keep the monitor's original base/stand in a safe place, in case the monitor is ever removed from the arm later.

What Happens Next

A Service Desk technician reviews your request within 1 business day and schedules the visit around your move date. Please allow at least 3 business days' notice.
