Use this request to get direct access to the Claude apps, Claude Code, or Cowork for your own research, coursework, or work.
When to Use This
Use this offering when:
- You need the Claude web, desktop, or mobile app for your own work.
- You want Claude Code for programming or Cowork for file and task automation.
- You are a researcher who needs Claude for a project, including grant-funded work.
- You are a student whose coursework allows AI tools and you need Claude directly.
- You expect to need programmatic (API) access soon and want to register your interest.
When NOT to Use This
Do not use this offering if:
- You only want general, everyday AI chat. Use LibreChat in the Related Services section instead.
- You are requesting Claude for an entire class you teach. Use Request Claude for a Course in the Related Services section.
- You already have access and only need to change funding or raise a limit. Use Change Claude Funding or Usage Limits in the Related Services section.
- Something is broken or you cannot sign in. Use Report a Claude Problem in the Related Services section.
Before You Submit
Have this information ready:
- Your role (student, staff, or faculty) and your purpose (research, coursework, personal or professional development, or other).
- Which tools you need: chat, Claude Code, Cowork, Fable, or "not sure."
- Whether you have been approved for a Hastings grant, and if so, the grant end date and the level of access it covers.
- The funding source for any usage costs, and the account or index code if it is a grant or department budget.
- Students: confirmation that you have completed the Artificial Intelligence Ethics course.
What Happens Next
Faculty research and whole-class requests are approved automatically and are typically provisioned within 2 business days. Student and staff requests that need review are typically decided within 3 to 5 business days, and you may be contacted for more detail. You will receive a confirmation when your access is ready, along with a pointer to the sign-in instructions.
