Claude

What This Service Is

Claude is an artificial intelligence (AI) assistant from Anthropic that helps with writing, analysis, coding, research, summarizing documents, and multi-step tasks. This service is where you request and manage direct access to the Claude apps, Claude Code, and Cowork, request Claude for a whole class, get advice on using Claude, adjust how your usage is funded, or report a problem.

General, everyday access to Claude is also available to the whole community through LibreChat, which does not require a request. This service covers the direct Claude tools and the higher tiers of access.

Who It's For

All Bowdoin students, faculty, and staff can use the offerings on this page.

  • Faculty research use and faculty requests for whole-class use are approved automatically.
  • Other student and staff requests may require review before access is granted.
  • Students must complete the required Artificial Intelligence Ethics course before any AI tool access is granted. Claude access will only be provided through request by faculty for course work, project work, or research. Students will not be provided access for their own purposes at this time.
