Use This Request To
Use this request to add licenses or renew a subscription for software that IT purchased for you or your department, paid for with your own funds or with funds set aside for that specific product.
When to Use This
Use this offering when:
- You need more seats of a product IT bought for you or your department, and your budget or a designated fund covers the added seats.
- A subscription IT set up for you or your department is coming up for renewal and you want it continued.
- You are expanding a tool your department already licenses to a few more people in your area.
- You need to true up your department's license count to match how many people are actually using the product.
When NOT to Use This
Don't use this offering if:
- You want more seats of a product IT licenses for the whole College, such as software licensed centrally for lab courses. Those go through the Technology Budget Request in the Related Services section, not this request.
- The product is brand new to you or your department. Use Request a Software Purchase.
- Someone just needs a license they are already entitled to installed on their computer. Use Software & Applications in the Related Services section.
- You are buying hardware only, with no software. Use Hardware Purchasing in the Related Services section.
Before You Submit
Having these ready speeds things up:
- The product name.
- How many seats or licenses to add, or the renewal term you want.
- The cost if you know it, and the funding source or cost center that covers it.
- The date you need it by, especially if a subscription is about to lapse.
What Happens Next
We acknowledge your request within 1 business day. Because the product is already purchased and in use, we usually do not need a full review, so we confirm pricing and availability with the vendor and set a target date with you. If your request is really about expanding a College-wide license, we will point you to the Technology Budget Request process so it goes through the right channel. If a renewal is close to lapsing, tell us in the request so we can prioritize it.
