Department Drive Migration Assistance Request

Information

The Service Desk is available to help your department plan and set up a Microsoft Team for accessing shared files.  As part of this process, files will be moved from Microwave to SharePoint and will be accessible through the Files tab in the Team's channels. To ensure a smooth transfer, the IT Systems group will migrate the data rather than the client.

This request applies to a department looking to transition from Microwave to Microsoft Teams with SharePoint files.

Once the request has been received, a Service Desk staff member will reach out to discuss and plan the project with your department.

This guide is for departments transitioning files from the department drive on Microwave (J:) to Microsoft Teams with SharePoint files. The Bowdoin Service Desk will support your team in setting up a Microsoft Team and migrating organized files from microwave to the Files tab in the department Team's channels.  As part of this process, staff from the College Archives' Records Management Program will help with evaluating older files for transfer to the Archives or deletion.
