Environment

This article applies to Bowdoin faculty, staff, and students installing Microsoft Teams on a personal or home computer running macOS or Windows 11. Microsoft Teams is available for nearly all platforms and can be downloaded and installed on Windows, macOS, some Linux distributions, iOS, and Android.

Resolution

To install Microsoft Teams on a home or personal computer, first download the installer, then follow the steps for your operating system.

  1. Go to https://products.office.com/en-us/microsoft-teams/download-app.
  2. Click the Download Teams button.

macOS

  1. Save the file and open the Teams_osx.pkg file.
  2. Click Continue on the installer opening screen, Continue after selecting a destination, and then Install.
  3. Enter an administrator's credentials.
  4. Click Close once the install is complete.
  5. Microsoft Teams can now be launched via Applications or Spotlight.

Windows

  1. Save the file and open Teams_windows_x64.exe (or Teams_windows_x32.exe).
  2. Once done installing, Teams will be available on your desktop and may launch automatically.
  3. You may be asked to log in with your Bowdoin email address, followed by Bowdoin's single sign-on (SSO) login page.
  4. Teams will now be available to launch from your desktop, Start menu, or automatically when you log on to your computer.
