Environment

This article applies to all current Bowdoin students, faculty, and staff accessing Bowdoin email and calendar via a web browser.

  • Platform: Any modern web browser (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge) on any operating system or device
  • Service: Bowdoin email and calendar are hosted in Microsoft 365, accessible as Outlook Online (browser-based), the Outlook desktop app, or the Outlook mobile app

Resolution

There are two ways to reach Outlook Online in a browser. Both require your Bowdoin username, password, and a registered multi-factor authentication (MFA) device.

Option 1: Via the Bowdoin Okta portal (recommended)

  1. Open a web browser and go to login.bowdoin.edu.
  2. Sign in with your Bowdoin username and password, then complete the MFA prompt.
  3. Click the Microsoft Office 365 Mail tile.
  4. Outlook Online will open in your browser.
Tip: The Okta portal at login.bowdoin.edu is the central launch point for all Bowdoin Microsoft 365 apps — including email, calendar, Teams, OneDrive, and more.

Option 2: Direct login at outlook.office.com

  1. Open a web browser and go to outlook.office.com.
  2. Enter your full Bowdoin email address and click Next.
  3. Enter your Bowdoin password and complete the MFA prompt.
  4. Outlook Online will open.
