Environment
When you click a phone number link on a Windows computer, Windows may prompt you to choose an application or open the wrong app. This article covers how to set Microsoft Teams as the default handler for telephone call links on Windows 11.
- Operating system: Windows 11
- Requirement: Microsoft Teams must be installed and signed in before you can set it as the default

Resolution
- Press Windows + I to open Settings, or click the Start button and select Settings.
- Click Apps in the left sidebar, then click Default apps.
- In the search field that says "Search apps", type Microsoft Teams.
- Click Microsoft Teams in the search results.
- Scroll through the list of file types and protocols to find CALLTO.
- Click the icon or app name shown next to CALLTO.
- Select Microsoft Teams from the options and click Set default.
- Close Settings.
Done: Phone number links will now open in Microsoft Teams. Test by clicking a phone number link in an email or on a web page — Teams should open with the number ready to dial.
Note: If Microsoft Teams does not appear in the search results, make sure Teams is fully installed and that you have signed in at least once. If Teams is installed but not appearing, try restarting your computer and repeating these steps.
