Environment

This article applies to anyone presenting in a Bowdoin classroom or conference room that is outfitted with a wireless presentation device, such as an Apple TV or a Mersive Solstice Pod.

  • How you present wirelessly depends on the device in the room. If a room is equipped, the device name is shown on the touch panel.

Resolution

Many classrooms are equipped with a device that allows basic presentations to be done wirelessly from a laptop or mobile device. You can present video and audio to a room's projector and speakers without wires, giving instructors the freedom to walk around the room or start presenting quickly.

AirPlay from a Mac

  1. Ensure the AV system is active and the projector is on.
  2. Select Apple TV on the AV control panel.
  3. From the Mac, click the Control Center icon in the menu bar.
  4. Click the Screen Mirroring button in the Control Center drop-down.

  5. Select the Apple TV's name from the list. Each Apple TV is named for the room it is in.
  6. A 4-digit code will appear on the projector screen. Enter that code in the box that appears on the laptop.
  7. Once entered, your screen will be presented.
Mirror or extend: You can mirror or extend your desktop to an Apple TV. If you don't see the content you expect but are connected, try switching between the two options in the Control Center → Screen Mirroring menu.

AirPlay from an iPad or iPhone

  1. Ensure the AV system is active and the projector is on.
  2. Select Apple TV on the AV control panel.
  3. On the iPad or iPhone, open Control Center by swiping down from the upper-right corner of the screen.
  4. Press the Screen Mirroring button in Control Center.

  5. Select the Apple TV's name from the list. Each Apple TV is named for the room it is in.
  6. A 4-digit code will appear on the projector screen. Enter that code in the box that appears on the device.
  7. Once entered, the device's screen will be presented.

Ditto from Windows

Ditto is a service that allows devices such as Windows laptops to connect to Apple TVs. Presenters must have Ditto installed on their device before proceeding (see the related article on presenting wirelessly from a Windows computer using Ditto).

Note: Ditto is also available for macOS and iPadOS and connects the same way as the Windows steps below, if preferred.
  1. Ensure the AV system is active and the projector is on.
  2. Select Apple TV on the control panel.
  3. Using the Apple TV remote, navigate to and open the Ditto Receiver app if it is not already open.
  4. Ensure that Ditto is installed on the device.
  5. From the Ditto app, enter the 2-word room code displayed on the screen.
  6. Once entered, the device will connect and the screen will be presented.
