Environment

This article applies to all Bowdoin College faculty, staff, and students. StatusHub allows you to subscribe to alerts for individual services, groups of services, or all Bowdoin IT services. You can choose to receive email notifications, SMS messages, or both.

Automatic enrollment: All students, faculty, and staff are automatically enrolled in StatusHub with their Bowdoin email address, though enrollment may not be immediate. These instructions can be used to enroll earlier or to add additional notification methods.

Resolution

Subscribe to alerts for all services

  1. Go to https://statushub.bowdoin.edu.
  2. Click Subscribe in the upper-right corner.
  3. Click Email and enter the email address where you want to receive alerts. This does not have to be your Bowdoin address.
  4. Check I accept terms & service, then click Next.

Subscribe to alerts for a subset of services

  1. Go to https://statushub.bowdoin.edu and click Subscribe.
  2. In the Notify About section, select Selected Services.
  3. Check Aggregate by groups to see a grouped list of services.
  4. Check the boxes for the services or service groups you want to follow.
  5. Optionally check Only send minimum number to receive only the first and final alerts for each incident.
  6. Click Subscribe.

Subscribe to SMS alerts

  1. Go to https://statushub.bowdoin.edu and click Subscribe.
  2. Click Phone.
  3. Enter your phone number starting with the country code (for example, +12075551234).
  4. Choose to receive alerts for all services or a subset, then click Next.
Note: Not all IT services have SMS notifications enabled. You may not receive a text message for every type of outage.

Minimum notifications option

In all subscription flows, the Only send me the minimum number of notifications per incident option controls intermediate updates. When enabled, you receive only the initial alert when a service goes down and the final alert when it is resolved. Intermediate status updates between those two events are not sent.
