Environment
This article applies to Bowdoin faculty and staff who own a Microsoft 365 Distribution Group and need to add or remove members.
- Managed in: The Microsoft 365 Distribution Group management portal, accessed through Outlook Online
- Not covered: Microsoft 365 Groups (the collaboration hub type) — see Add, edit, and remove members of a Microsoft 365 Group in the Related Articles section for those
Distribution groups are Bowdoin-only. Only Bowdoin email addresses (@bowdoin.edu) can be added as members of a Distribution Group. If you need to include people outside Bowdoin, consider a Microsoft 365 Group instead — see Microsoft 365 Groups and Distribution Groups — what's the difference? in the Related Articles section.
Resolution

- Sign in to Outlook Online at outlook.office.com using your Bowdoin email address.
- Click the gear icon in the upper-right corner to open Settings.
- In the search box at the top of the Settings panel, type Distribution groups and click the matching result.
