How to clean and maintain an iPad

Question

From time to time, you may need to clean your iPad, which is crucial to maintain its functionality, durability and appearance. The following steps should be considered when cleaning an iPad screen and its accessories

Answer

iPad screen

  1. Unplug the device.
  2. Turn your iPad to “sleep” mode or power the iPad off entirely (press and hold the Sleep/Wake button, and then slide the onscreen slider).
  3. Use a soft cloth that is entirely free of lint
  4. With small circular motions, use the soft cloth to clean the iPad screen.
  5. If necessary, slightly dampen the cloth with water. Do not use the damp cloth on any openings––only a completely dry, lint-free cloth should be used to clean the screen’s perimeter.

Apple Pencil

To clean your Apple Pencil, use a soft, slightly damp, lint-free. With the damp cloth, wipe your Apple Pencil from the tip end––but not the tip itself––toward the other end of your Apple Pencil. Don’t allow moisture to get inside the seam between the tip and the body of your Apple Pencil.

Magic Keyboard

When cleaning the outside of your Magic Keyboard, first disconnect the iPad and unplug the USB-C cable if connected. Like when cleaning an iPad screen, use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the exterior. Avoid getting moisture in any openings.
