Set Up Okta Verify Without Scanning a QR code

Question

  • How can I setup Okta Verify manually, without using a QR code?
  • My camera is broken, how can I setup Okta Verify without scanning the code?

Environment

The Okta enrollment process provides a QR code to setup Okta Verify. There are times when someone may not be able to scan that code, such as having a broken camera on their mobile device.

Resolution

If you have followed the instructions for enrolling in Okta Verify but are unable to scan a QR code, follow these steps:

  1. At the page with the QR code, select Can’t Scan

  2. On the screen, select Text me a setup link

  3. You will be prompted to input your phone number. then select Send me the setup link

  4. You will receive a text message at the number you provided. Tap on the link and you will be able to finish setting up Okta Verify. ​​​​​​
