Tools for Scheduling Office Hours

Bowdoin offers several tools for scheduling office hours.

Bookings with me (Bookings, Office365)

Bookings with me is part of the larger Bookings tool set, but is tailored specifically for you to schedule meetings between you and others. It is extremely easy to set up for office hours (you may find an office hours meeting type has already been set up for you the first time you use it.  You may choose what times you are available for office hours and you can configure if they are to be in person or remote. Booked times will automatically be added to your calendar and the calendar of the person who requests a time.

Bookings, Office365

Bookings is a more general purpose scheduler that allows you to schedule meeting times for yourself and staff. It works mostly like Bookings with me but requires a bit more customization to get started (defining services, assigning staff, etc.). See Scheduling Office Hours Using Microsoft Bookings for information on using Bookings for office hours.

Campus Groups, Meeting Scheduler

Meeting Scheduler in Campus Groups allows you much of the same functionality as the Bookings options. It also has a calendar integration for synchronizing with Office365 and Google Calendar.  Campus Groups help site provides an article on Creating a Meeting Scheduler. Be sure to review Campus Groups' article on synchronizing calendars.

Scheduler in Canvas

The calendar in Canvas can be used to schedule office hours. It is convenient as it is incorporated with your other class tools. However, the Canvas scheduler doesn't have the same level of calendar synchronization that the other options have. You can subscribe to the Calendar feed in Canvas to show your calendar on Google Calendar or Outlook, but your students will not automatically have meetings entered into their Google/Outlook calendars unless they also set them to subscribe to the Canvas calendar. Read the article How do I add a Scheduler appointment group in a course calendar? in the Canvas Community site for details on using Scheduler in Canvas.
